Our lives at the moment are challenged by the things we are to leave behind Certainties such as a house, salary, but also friends and family; we have to release them all. And every time it is asking for a bit more trust. We are blessed in knowing that God does not leave us alone and that people stand with us in many different ways. We continue to be convinced of the fact that Senegal is the place to which we are called. Maria is also starting to prepare herself a little bit for the trip.
Maria loves to sing along with Senegalese music. She can point to Senegal on the map of Africa, even though she has no clue how life is over there. Of course it is not her own choice to move to Senegal. However we believe that God has called us as a family and Maria is fully part of that. By the time we leave we will let her say her farewells to all the friends here. Maria is very much a people-oriented person. She wants to know everyone’s name and she can remember those names better than her own mother can. Furthermore she can stand up for herself and expresses her emotions very well. That’s why we expect that she’ll be able to handle all the changes as long as we do it together. Moreover, she won’t be surprised of dark faces as she is already almost the only white child in the crèche.
